Meadway Hall

The Main Hall

The Main Hall measures 18m x 12m (60ft x 38ft), and has a sprung timber floor. Large windows on both sides provide plenty of natural light and pleasant views to the surrounding countryside. The adjustable wall lights offer a welcoming atmosphere for evening use.

The stage is 16ft deep, 20ft wide and can be lit by LED theatre lights. Heating is by blown air heaters. There are also ceiling fans which help to circulate the warm air in winter and to provide cool air in summer. Access to the stage and two changing rooms is via the main hall.

There is a door and serving hatch to the adjacent kitchen.

Maximum seating capacities as set out in our Premises Licence are as follows:

For a closely seated audience 300;

Dancing with seating around tables is 200;

Formal Dining at tables is 180.

The Meadway Hall has a Licence for public events which includes music, dancing or theatre. There are blue padded banquet chairs for 200 and 24 rectangular tables (6ft by 2ft 3in). There are also 75 plastic stacking chairs.

The Main Hall also has a state of the art projector and screen for showing films, videos or presentations. Instructions for its use are at this Link.

NB It is the Trustees policy that Parties or activities that have music will require booking the whole hall as the nature of the activity would adversely affect any other hirer due to the proximity of the rooms involved. This allows the hirer exclusive use of all facilities.

There is a hearing loop installed in the main hall, and a simple pa system is available, which can take 2 microphones and music from ipads etc. There is also a 12 track sound system which can be hired on request..

Permitted hours of use:
Mon-Thurs: 8.30 am – 12 midnight
Fri & Sat: 8.30 am – 1am
Sundays: 9.00 am – 11pm
Events should finish at least ½ hour before the above finishing times.

We also have a small projector screen and digital projector available for hire in conjunction with hiring the hall.

Meeting Room

The Meeting Room is heated by radiators and is lit by fluorescent tubes and wall lights. The large window offers views across the playing field to Lollover Hill and the Levels.

It seats up to 30 ‘theatre style’ or 20 ‘board room’ style – 9m x 5m (30ft x 16ft.) It adjoins the main hall via double doors.

There is a door which gives access to the adjacent kitchen and there is a serving hatch to the meeting room.

There are double, connecting doors between the meeting room and the main hall. These have frosted glass and are soundproofed.

For tea and coffee provision, there are cups and saucers for 200 and water glasses for 60. There is a small number of tea pots, trays and jugs. Crockery (dinner and side plates, dessert bowls and soup bowls) and cutlery for 200 is available.

Kitchen

The Kitchen (20ft long) was refurbished in June 2013 with stainless steel appliances and work surfaces. It consists of a double oven and a convector fan oven. There is a 6 ring hob, a fridge/freezer, microwave,warming oven, industrial dishwasher, instant water boiler and stainless steel preparation table.

There are serving hatches to both the main hall and meeting room. Basic equipment for serving hot and cold drinks is provided. There is a rear door from the kitchen to the rear car park which allows for easy loading/unloading.

Baking trays and saucepans are not provided. Those wishing to cater should provide their own.

Users are asked to bring tea towels and bin bags to remove any waste materials.

The Field

There is a large playing field adjacent to the hall. This is available for use by hirers. It is, however, a public space and cannot, therefore, be reserved for the sole use of hirers.

Car parking is on three sides of the hall with safe parking for more than 40 cars.

There is also a boules (pétanque) terrain, a basketball hoop and a football pitch.

There is a children’s play area with lots of safe and fun activities, with some benches and picnic tables close by for comfortable viewing.

And we have recently added a Zip Wire!!

To protect the health and well-being of children and all other field and Hall users, no dogs (with the exception of assistance dogs) are permitted in the Meadway Hall or on the playing field and the children’s play equipment area at any time.
